After School Enrichment "New Territory"

As a companion to our Collaborative Residency at Water Street Studios,Dawn Tutt and I have created an opportunity for 3rd,4th and 5th graders to explore New Territory using the mediums of wood, metal, clay and common household objects. Thank you to the teachers who share their classrooms with us and the parent volunteers who make this school wide program possible.

Each child will get a packet filled with identical materials, wood, wire, tacks, pencil, toothpicks, and clay. Also provided are buttons, paper clips, string, acorns, egg cartons….To spark imagination the children will  see examples of our own work and the work of masters Calder, Bontecue, Cornell… The program will last 4 weeks with the first three weeks focusing and rotating each class between clay, metal and wood. The last class we will put the pieces together. The final work is welcome to be displayed in July alongside our work for the gallery show at Water Street Studios.
